“I remember that my first contact with the University was through “Somos” magazine, which talked about the launching of the Dentistry program. I decided to go to the talk and I liked it so much that I had no doubt Dentistry was the best choice for me. Throughout my years as a student, I got to learn a lot of valuable things. First, I had access to the latest technology learning tools, like the clinical simulators for different specialties, digital radiographies, learning how to use a dental software and using these resources in the areas of application. The courses of the first terms allowed me to see patients as human beings and not as diseases and to strengthen aspects like ethics and professionalism. Later on, I also learned how to manage an office, thanks to some courses on business management. In addition, the program’s faculty members are specialists in different areas and that has allowed me to analyze in a more complete way the different patient cases and be able to assist them with an integral treatment. I also had the chance to study in the United States through the international exchange program, which allowed me to compare myself with students and specialists of that country. I realized that I received a comprehensive academic training at UPC and that we are at an excellent level. I’ve also represented the University at the National Encounter and at the Ibero-American Encounter on Dental Research, organized in Mexico City, where I obtained the second place in the Posters category in clinical research, which was another proof of our excellent academic training. Nowadays I’m working as a teacher assistant at UPC and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share my knowledge and also to keep myself up to date in different areas, because learning is a constant process. In the future, I plan to do a specialty course abroad, so that later on I can run my own clinic.”

“UPC’s Dentistry program has allowed me to understand patients as integral beings and to establish a proper dentist-patient relationship, starting from a complete anamnesis, so that I can give them a solution to their needs. The curriculum has given me the chance to have contact with patients from the first terms, through courses like Dentist-Patient, Learning How to Be a Dentist, and others. As for the manual skills, the simulation courses have helped me to feel confident before starting any procedure in a patient at a clinic, so that the possibilities of harm can be reduced.
On the other hand, the public health campaigns have helped me to be more conscious about the national reality regarding oral health. In those campaigns, preventing and restorative treatments on kids and adults are being provided, as well as educational talks on oral health.
Now that I am doing my internship, I know that my academic training at UPC has allowed me to have the manual, intellectual and ethical skills to perform a proper diagnosis and treatment on my patients.”

“These past years at UPC’s Dentistry program have been very rewarding, because the expectations I had in relation to the University and the academic training have been surpassed. One of the benefits was to be able to take program-specific courses from the first terms, through the application and study of real cases, which made me feel positive that this was the right profession for me. Also, I get to have simulation courses, where we can relate to the clinical procedures before assisting real patients. This made me feel more confident and I was able to perform a better treatment and experience to my patients during their appointments. On the other hand, the University’s dental clinic has the best infrastructure, technology and has specialists in each area who are always close to the students and whose academic demand is right for both our professional and personal training. Now that I am doing my internship, I’ve realized that the training they provide us is the best, and that we are all trained to assist patients properly.”
