Program Research
Research Lines
The Biology program leads the Center for Research and Innovation (CRI) of the School of Health Sciences. The CRI has 5 laboratories led by scientists with international experience:
- Drug Development and Innovation Laboratory : its research line uses computational and chemical methods to find new potential drugs for malaria, cancer, tuberculosis, etc.
Research Professor: Miguel Angel Quiliano
- Cell Biology and Biomedicine Laboratory : its line focuses on the study of tropical parasites and the development of new detection systems based on Crispr/cas (state-of-the-art technology).
Research Professor: Vanessa Adaui
- Molecular Biology Laboratory : its line focuses on molecular epidemiology for various diseases that affect us, Carrion disease, zica, chinkunkunya, dengue, etc.
Research Professor: Juana Del Valle
- Laboratory of Applied Biophysics and Biochemistry : On the one hand, we develop platforms for the identification of new antibiotics and, on the other, we develop synthetic molecules for the detection and/or inhibition of pathogens.
Research Professor: Pohl Milón
- Computational Biology Laboratory : It focuses on the disciplines of bioinformatics, modeling and simulations at the atomic-molecular level, as well as the integrated study of biological/biochemical processes through computational techniques. For example, the modeling of the host-pathogen interaction, from the molecular level to the study of populations and epidemiological factors of the disease.
Research Professor: Wilfredo Evangelista
