MIGUEL CRUCHAGA BELAÚNDE
Dean of the School of Architecture
- Architect graduated from Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, Lima (1962). He pursued graduate studies in Human Behavior & Housing Design at the Graduate School of Design of Harvard University (1982).
- He has been Founder Dean of UPC's School of Architecture since 1994. He has worked most of his life as a freelancer in this profession. He worked in association with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill of Chicago in 1978, and as Senior Associate of Frank O. Gehry & Associates in 1986.
- He was Senator of the Republic between 1990 and 1992, Member of the Board of Directors of companies and institutions such as Cervecería del Norte (1977-1990), Interbank (1984-1985), Bayer Industrial (1984-1985), Banco Financiero (1984) and ESAN Board of Trustees (1984-1985). He was President of Instituto del Ciudadano (1993-2002) and Full Member and President of the Peruvian Academy of Architecture and Urbanism (2005-2007).
- In 1972 he earned the National Culture Award for his work in architecture. Among his works, the Ministry of Fisheries (nowadays Museum of the Nation), the hotel in Esteves island in Puno and the UPC Monterrico Site stand out.
